Assistant Inspector General for Management

Jorge A. Christian is the Assistant Inspector General for Management (AIG-M). He joined the OIG in 2016 as the Deputy AIG-M, then assumed his role after serving as Acting AIG-M before transitioning to it permanently under a career Senior Executive Service appointment in 2020. 

As AIG-M, Jorge is responsible for the executive leadership and management of the OIG’s operations arm. He oversees the effective and efficient management of OIG resources including its financial management, human capital management, information technology, procurement, and facilities. 

He also advises the Inspector General, Deputy Inspector General, and other senior OIG leadership on management operations and fiscal efficiency, especially when it comes to supporting the organization’s nationwide workforce of approximately 300 employees.

Prior to his position with DOI OIG, Jorge served as a Senior Advisor at both the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the U.S. Department of Energy. Jorge also served as a Budget Officer at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Food and Drug Administration. 

Before joining the Federal Government, Jorge was a management consultant, developing financial and economic analysis reports to support clients involved in litigation, and an accountant in public accounting, specializing in audits of large, publicly traded corporations. 
 
Jorge earned a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland Smith School of Business; an M.S. in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business; and an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland Smith School of Business. 

In addition, he holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) (Inactive) license in the State of Maryland, and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation from the AICPA/CIMA. Jorge is also an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education’s Senior Managers in Government Program.
